I love that when someone asks what your favorite dessert is, there is one answer and I know it for sure... and when someone asks what my favorite dessert is, there are about 15 answers and you know them all. I'm so proud of the way God is growing us, closer together and for his purposes! Life with you makes perfect sense, you're my best friend!

Happy Birthday, Daddy!

Last week we celebrated Matt's 28th birthday! We started the celebration a little early (as usual) by going out to dinner with Matt's family at Outback on Friday night. We've discovered that Burlington, NC is a good halfway mark between Raleigh and Randleman, so we met there. The weather was incredible, and it was great to catch up with family that we don't see that often! I made sure to get a picture, since we so rarely get a chance to take one with all three of us together.
Unfortunately on Saturday (Matt's actual birthday) he had to wake up early... our neighbor had offered to help him cut up a tree that we took down in our yard that had been laying there for months. Matt took the opportunity to witness to him and appreciated the help in getting the tree taken care of. Then, Saturday evening, our church went out together to witness in the community since we have just finished an evangelism study. Matt was able to share the gospel with two teenagers while we were out, and he happened to give them his business card for the church if they wanted to call with more questions. One of the guys, named Louis, called this week to let Matt know that he had become a Christian! It would have been cool any time, but Matt was especially excited to share Christ on his birthday!

For dinner that night, we tried a new place in Greensboro called Smoky Bones, which had been recommended to us by my parents who had gone to one in Orlando. Kenna was great, and slept the whole time so that we could have a nice leisurely dinner! Smoky Bones was good, but I think we will stick with our Shane's Rib Shack... it's much more affordable, and I think the food is better!
Other than the normal "almost 30" thoughts, I think Matt was happy to be turning 28. We are so proud of this Daddy and all his accomplishments this year! We as a couple answered God's call into full-time ministry...we have survived a busy and sometimes difficult year together, and are stronger than ever in our marriage... and best of all, he became a full-time Daddy to Kenna!

Snow Day

Today was a busy snow day for us. Randleman was blanketed with nearly 2-3 inches of snow and we tried to take advantage of it. Pontouf couldn't wait to get out into it this morning when I let her out and probably would have stayed out all day if it was not for the fact that we needed to take Kenna in for her 2 month checkup and also her first round of vaccination shots. We were so proud of how she did. The doctor approved of her weight, head size, and height and then came the shots. Our brave little girl took them in stride and minutes later was happily sucking her paci.
We headed straight from the doctor to church where I worked for a few hours before some quick grocery shopping and then back to the house where Pontouf, again, was ready to play with her white soccer ball (even though she lost it amidst all of the snow several times).
We thank God for Kenna's fantastic checkup today, for the the blessing of snow, and for a warm place to come home to. His blessings never cease!

Matt is going to call me OCD about this blog, but I had to add just a few more pictures to his post about the snow! Kenna has somehow accumulated 3 or so of these warm "bunting" type outfits, but it has yet until now been cold enough to wear them, and they are all several sizes too big. I put her in this one today that she got from her big cousin Ansley because it was the warmest looking and the prettiest! She was my little snow bunny in her white and pink cloud! Underneath it she had socks, a onesie, a fleece footie outfit, and a hat. This little one was NOT going to be cold in the snow!

It must be as warm and snuggly as it looks, because she ended up napping pretty much all day in it, which is unusual since she hates the carseat so much! The funniest part was that her arms only went about halfway down the sleeves, so the mittens were like giant flippers every time she moved her arms at all. It reminded me of the little brother in the movie "A Christmas Story," but I think every mom thinks of that when she bundles her kid up super-tight!
